Florida — Fit for Foodies!

Did I mention that I love food? I especially like trying new dishes with an eclectic fusion of flavors. Florida is one of the best places in the world for foodie adventures. People from all over the globe have migrated to the Sunshine State and that unique mix of cultures has created some of the best international cuisines found anywhere.

Sometimes during my Florida travels I find unforgettable food experiences that are worth sharing. Whether it’s a restaurant, a notable chef, or an occasional recipe, you’ll find my delicious discoveries right here on FloridaFunAndFork! A Synopsis of the Top 10 Food Related Articles

This month, there’s a wide variety of food topics trending…

If you’re a chocoholic, by all means check out one of Universal Studios newest restaurants, the Toothsome Chocolate Emporium & Savory Feast Kitchen. The review may surprise you!

And who visits Florida without trying at least ONE fish taco? Whether it’s tuna, grouper, shrimp, or cod you can rest assured you’re getting off-the-boat fresh seafood from Florida’s warm waters. Fish Tacos are one of the latest trends amongst foodies, and the ones I found were creative and scrumptious! Oh, by the way, one of my favorite fish tacos happened to be from a popular purveyor of tropical apparel! Pretty crazy, huh? A clothing company serving up fabulous food fare! To see who it is, check out the article, Where To Find The BEST Fish Tacos In Florida.

What do you get when you mix a clown collection, vintage toys, and Hollywood memorabilia? Well, The Bubble Room on Captiva Island of course! I must admit, the decor is just a little over-the-top weird, and yet it works! The Bubble Room is one of the most popular restaurants on all of Captiva and Sanibel Islands, on Florida’s Gulf Coast. Read the article to see if they attribute their long-standing success to the food or the kitschy decor. And, I forgot to mention, The Bubble Room celebrates one national holiday all year long! Have you guessed it?

No Florida food list is complete without at least one entry from the popular Central Florida Theme Parks. In this case, Disney. Chef Mickey’s inside the Contemporary Resort is likely the highest rated of all Disney character dining choices. This review (with lots of pics) will reveal why!

Who doesn’t love shopping… and picnics? You’ll think you died and went to heaven at this off-the-beaten-path Old-Florida hidden gem that combines your love of both! The Back Porch Restaurant in Lake Alfred serves up a fantastic picnic lunch, then you can shop till you drop at the unique boutiques on premise. A true Florida landmark for nearly six decades!

One of my favorite things to do in any city that I visit is a food tour. I’ve done the Vittles & Vino VIP Carriage Tour in Saint Augustine and absolutely loved it. Then I stubbled upon the Winter Park Food Tour in Central Florida. So how did it compare to the outstanding foodie adventure I had in America’s Oldest City? Read the review to see how it measured up!

The first thing I did when moving to Florida 18 years ago was purchase my Disney Annual Pass (well, it was actually the second thing I did… the first thing was to get my Florida driver’s license so I had proof of Florida residency in order to become a Disney Passholder!). I’m a Disney fanatic. I love the theme parks and visit as often as I can. One of my favorite Disney events is a festival dedicated to food — the yearly International Food and Wine Festival at Epcot. I’m totally amazed at how creative (and yummy) the tapas-sized food offerings have become at the outdoor kitchens. They’re flat out delicious, and getting more gourmet with every passing year. Take a peek at some Food and Wine Festival photos right here on FloridaFunAndFork!

Are you one of those wanna-be detectives who love a good murder mystery? Well, I’ve got the perfect Florida attraction to test your super sleuth skills! And solving the who-dun-it becomes even more exciting when the murder takes place on a train… a moving train! Add a 5-course semi-gourmet dinner to the mix and it makes for one heck of a night out! In my opinion, the Murder Mystery Dinner Train in Fort Myers is one of Florida’s best kept secrets.

Citrus is synonymous with Florida. You can’t visit the Sunshine State without indulging in a glass (or two) of fresh squeezed orange or grapefruit juice, or buying a souvenir bag of fresh picked oranges from local groves. But did you know there’s a citrus candy factory not too far from the Central Florida Attractions? Davidson of Dundee is a great place to pick up citrus-themed goodies and souvenirs to send or take back home. Oh, and you can try before you buy. Be sure to ask for your free samples!

You’re probably wondering what a bed and breakfast inn is doing on a list of food related articles. That’s easy to answer. The River Lily Inn Bed & Breakfast in Daytona Beach Florida serves up some of the best gourmet breakfasts your tummy will ever taste! The menu changes every day and is cooked up fresh by the innkeeper himself. And, speaking of this multi-talented man, wait till you read about his relationship with a popular recording artist!
